01 · DISCOVERY

How customers find you

Fintech buyers research cautiously. Consumers search specific money questions and judge whether a brand looks regulated and safe, and Google treats financial topics as 'Your Money or Your Life' pages held to stricter quality standards. B2B fintech buyers such as finance teams, banks and credit unions find vendors through peers, partner integrations, review sites, and industry demo stages like Finovate and Money20/20. Paid search is not a quick fallback either, since Google requires financial services advertisers to verify in a growing list of countries.

The buying journey

Consumer: a money question leads to educational content, then a check on licensing, security and reviews, then a trial with small amounts. Trust builds slowly and is lost fast. B2B: a problem owner researches, compliance and security teams review the vendor, procurement runs a long cycle, and a pilot comes before a contract. Each step asks for evidence of regulatory standing.

What SaaS teams aim for

  • Rank for specific money questions with credible, reviewed content
  • Show regulatory standing and security clearly
  • Get on shortlists via reviews, partners and industry events
  • Shorten B2B security and compliance review
  • Grow without claims that create regulatory risk

02 · CHANNELS

Channels, ranked by what matters most

Ranked 5 (essential) to 1 (optional) by the research for this industry.

  1. Expert-reviewed educational SEO content

    Essential

Financial pages fall under Google's YMYL standards, where trust carries the most weight. Named authors, cited sources and compliance review are what make finance content competitive over time.

  2. Partner and integration ecosystems

    High

B2B fintech often spreads through the platforms customers already use, such as accounting, ERP, banking-as-a-service and payment partners. Integration listings borrow those platforms' trust.

  3. Industry demo stages (Finovate, Money20/20)

    Medium

Bank and fintech buyers attend these to see new products. Finovate picks most demo companies on the application alone and requires live demos only.

  4. Review sites for B2B fintech (G2, Capterra)

    Medium

Finance teams check peer reviews. G2 accepts B2B products only, so consumer fintech needs other proof.

  5. Founder-led LinkedIn

    Medium

B2B finance buyers and partners are on LinkedIn. Thoughtful posts on the regulatory and operational detail of your niche build credibility, as long as they go through the same claims review as everything else.

03 · YOUR FIRST MONTH

A 30-day campaign that costs $0

A sample month. Your own plan is built from your audit, stage and goal, and paid options only ever appear as optional boosts.

  1. Week 1 · days 1–7

    Trust foundations and claims review

    • Publish or update an 'about and regulation' page with licensing, partners and how customer funds are held, in plain language
    • Create a short claims list your compliance owner approves (what you can and can't say), so all content uses it
    • Add named authors and reviewer credits to educational pages
    • Audit existing pages for promissory or exaggerated wording
  2. Week 2 · days 8–14

    Listings and profiles

    • Claim Crunchbase, Dealroom and LinkedIn company profiles with consistent descriptions
    • For B2B products, claim G2 and Capterra profiles and ask current customers for honest reviews
    • List integrations in partner marketplaces you actually support
    • Set up Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools
  3. Week 3 · days 15–21

    Educational content cluster

    • Publish three to five pages answering specific money or operations questions in your niche, each with sources and a reviewer
    • Write one plain explainer of how your product works, risks included, since balanced risk discussion is what regulators look for
    • Route all content through compliance review and record approvals
  4. Week 4 · days 22–30

    Industry visibility

    • Check the next Finovate and Money20/20 application windows and costs, and decide whether a demo slot is worth it
    • Draft founder LinkedIn posts from approved claims
    • Pitch one data-free, opinion-based expert commentary to a fintech trade publication
    • Review which pages are getting indexed and earning impressions, and plan the next cluster

06 · AVOID

Common mistakes

  1. Making promissory claims

FINRA's 2026 oversight report flags social promotions and app 'nudges' with 'promissory claims or omitted material information.' Even outside FINRA's remit, promising outcomes invites regulatory and consumer-protection problems. Describe what the product does, along with its risks.

  2. Leaving influencers unsupervised

FINRA found firms that did not review influencer content or keep records of it, and Compliance Week reported an $850,000 fine against M1 Finance in an influencer case. Treat influencer posts as your own communications.

  3. Publishing thin, anonymous finance content

Google holds YMYL pages to very high quality standards. Unattributed, unsourced or AI-padded money content is unlikely to compete and can hurt trust in the brand.

  4. Assuming ads are a quick fallback

Google requires financial services verification in a growing list of countries, and unverified advertisers there can't run financial services ads. Plan organic channels first.

  5. Putting a consumer app on B2B review sites

G2 does not accept B2C products. Consumer fintechs build proof through app store reviews, press and transparent regulatory pages instead.

07 · WHAT OUTPOST DOES

How Outpost helps

  • Drafts educational articles with citations; you can hold every article for approval, and Activity logs who approved each one

  • Checks every claim in what it drafts against your confirmed facts and holds unsupported wording before anything publishes

  • Prepares Crunchbase, Dealroom and G2 profile text from the same confirmed facts, for you to submit, with receipts

  • Tracks how AI assistants describe your company and which sources they cite

  • Keeps a full record of every published action, which is useful when compliance asks what went out

Every action Outpost takes gets a receipt: the live URL, a timestamp and what it drove, or “nothing yet”.See how receipts work

08 · QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Can Outpost publish without our compliance review?

You can require approval before anything goes live, and for fintech we recommend it. Each publish has a receipt, so you can see what went out and when.

Why is fintech SEO slower than other SaaS?

Google treats financial topics as YMYL and weighs trust and expertise heavily, so new domains need credible authors, sources and time. Expect results to compound over months, not weeks.

Are demo events like Finovate worth it?

They can be, for B2B fintech that sells to banks and financial institutions. Finovate charges a fee if you're selected, with the amount depending on your funding category and when you apply. Weigh it against your sales cycle. It's optional and outside Outpost's $0 extra spend plan.

Can we use influencers?

Possibly, but regulators expect you to supervise and keep records of what they post. FINRA has flagged firms that didn't. Start with approved claims and a review process.

Do these plans need an ad budget?

No. Every Outpost plan works at $0 extra spend, which helps in finance because Google's financial services verification can delay paid search.

Does this apply to B2B and consumer fintech alike?

The trust and claims rules apply to both. The channels differ: B2B leans on partners, review sites and industry events, while consumer fintech leans on educational search content and app store trust.
